A both way communication between the project manager and team members have helped in providing clear understanding to the concept of the project. A proper discussion with the team members have helped in maintaining a good relation with the team members and understanding the feelings and thoughts of team members (Schwalbe, 2015). On the other hand, another student describes that the use of the communication might be vague in nature. The team members are able to maintain their work without any interaction with the project manager. However, this quite difficult for the team members. The use of the strategic plans has helped in providing proper management to the project. A proper project planning helps in maintaining each stages of the project. The project manager, along with the team members have to plan the project timeline for completing the project. The method of noting down the important points related to the project is a necessary habit for the project manager. There might be a case when any important thing might not be remembered. This can cause loss to the project. Therefore, noting down important points in a good habit for a project manager (Fleming Koppelman, 2016). However, other students argued that the use of writing notes might be time taking. The manager needs to remember the things and execute them immediately. This might help in saving time in the project schedule. However, this step might be a high risk factor (Heldman, 2015). The task involved in the project have to be managed within time. The budget of the project plays an important role in the success of the project in the company. A low budget project cannot use advanced technology in the project due to bad financial condition. Final Report According to the above discussion about the Liberty project, a general idea about the project management has been obtained. The use of advanced technology in the project have helped in maintaining the time for completion of the projects. There are various tools and techniques of the project management has been described below: Risk Management The risk management in the project plays an important role in identifying the threats and risks involved in the project and implementing project management process. The use of the risk management tool helps in analyzing risks and threats involved in the project (Meng, 2012). There are various risks involved in a project including social factor, environmental factors and technical factors. Therefore, risk management helps in managing the risks and create strategies for minimizing the risks and threats in the project. Work Breakdown Structure The Work Breakdown Structure of a project helps in breaking down large tasks into small tasks. The small tasks are easy to manage and can be completed easily. The work breakdown structure helps in providing deliverables of the projects (Mir Pinnington, 2014). It provides a hierarchical structure of the tasks in the project. The WBS helps in providing accurate and readable data for the success of the project. It also helps in indicating the milestones, cost and risk of the project. Gantt chart The Gantt chart is used to illustrate schedule of the project. The Gantt chart can be created using various software including Microsoft Excel. The project manager helps in creating the Gantt chart for the project. The deadline of various tasks are noted in the Gantt chart in a graph format (Hwang Ng, 2013). This helps in understanding and prioritizing the task according to their deadlines. Score Cards Various scorecards are used by the project manager during the project management. These score cards helps in providing feedback to the team members according to their performance in the project. A good performance of a team member helps in increasing the scorecard. According to me, a project manager is the main part of the project management. The project manager monitors, controls and evaluates the progression of the project and performance of the employees and team members of the project (Kerzner, 2017). The use of the tools and techniques helps in minimizing the complexity of the project. The project management tools helps in maintaining the progress of the project in the company. In the case of the Liberty Water Treatment plant, the project has been successful due to proper installment of the project management process. On the other hand, Turner, (2016) argued that the use of the project management tools might be time taking and wastage. The use of these tools is a waste of money. However, this happens in very rare cases and most of the projects uses project management tools for completing the project. The efficiency of the project is increased with the use of the project management tools. The use of the project management models including W aterfall model and agile model also helps in progressing in the project. References Burke, R. (2013). MSP, LLC Migration Proposal free essay sample
MSP, LLC is an industry leading graphics company that needs to upgrade its hardware and software to maintain its edge amongst other companies similar to itself. If MSP wants to continue to attract high-level employees we must provide them with high-level equipment. In order to do that we must upgrade the operating systems that we currently run and the hardware that we will use along with it. MSP currently uses Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7. To be able to migrate to Windows 8 we must discard part of our current inventory of desktops and laptops. Below is a proposal that will show what Windows 8 and new hardware can present to this company. This plan will provide justification for the new hardware and software, minimize downtime during the upgrade, increase end-user productivity and security, improve connectivity, and lower future administrative support costs. Using new technologies such as Tablets and new operating systems across the corporate infrastructure is unheard of and will showcase MSPs ability to be on the forefront of technology use within the workspace. We will write a custom essay sample on MSP, LLC Migration Proposal or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page These changes will continue to help MSP distance itself from its competitors. Throughout the company we have approximately 400 desktop machines and 100 laptops that are being used on a daily basis. 300 of the desktops and 75 of the laptops use Windows XP, older processors and network cards that would be compatible with Windows 8. However, they would not meet the increased bandwidth or multi-processing power that new machines would provide and where this company should be as a industry leading graphics company. The remaining desktops and laptops that utilize Windows 7 will be transitioned to lower level tasks not intended for those needing the processing speed and power of new computers, such as front office employees. To provide our employees the best opportunities to succeed we must increase our bandwidth capability as well as the overall performance of each computer and inter-connectivity. All new desktops and laptops will use at least 4th generation i5 Intel processors. Windows 8 Enterprise will be used as the standard operating system build for all desktops and laptops. Windows 8 Enterprise offers the widest range of options for a company of this size. Desktops machines will come with at least 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB hard drive, Gigabit Ethernet cards, and USB 3. 0. Laptops will come with at least 8 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, Gigabit Ethernet cards, wireless ac, and USB 3. 0. The 64-bit architecture in the i5 Intel processors will allow for increased speed and productivity while not overspending for i7 processors. The network cards will be able to handle increased bandwidth and future network expansion. USB 3. 0 will allow for faster transfer speeds for removable devices as well as permit backwards compatibility to USB 2. 0 devices. Wireless ac for the laptops will allow for the fastest wireless speeds while remaining compatible with previous wireless standards. Windows 8 Enterprise will allow for increased security through the following features: branchcache, direct access, group policies, encrypted file system, remote desktop and AppLocker. Some features that make Windows 8 Enterprise standout from the other versions are group policies, encrypted file system, remote desktop, branchcache, direct access, and AppLocker. The branchcache feature allows for branch offices to store content for other uses to use locally without having to download it from the corporate office. Direct access allows for help desk employees to directly access the users computer without having to initiate a VPN connection. Group policies and encrypted file system are available for Windows 7 but continue to enhance the security within Windows 8. AppLocker, which is new to Windows 8 reduces administrative overhead by controlling which users can install and run applications (Otey, 2013). Windows 8 versions come integrated with a new application called SkyDrive. SkyDrive is Microsofts cloud storage service that allows its users to upload files to the cloud. This will allow company users the ability to move across our company and still have access to their files on any computer they may log into. The use of SkyDrive by our employees will also help alleviate the use of standard hard drive storage and the cost to purchase and maintain them. Many will question the overall cost of this type of upgrade and migration. However, the facts below will justify the cost. The older machines running Windows XP will have to be upgraded to a newer operating system. By April 2014, technical support and security updates for Windows XP will cease to exist from Microsoft (Dysart, 2014). This means that the majority of MSPs computers may and will become vulnerable to spyware, malicious software, and harmful viruses which can damage and steal our proprietary information and data. These types of security risks can be easily avoided by moving our computers to the newer operating system. A pilot and main migration will be used to facilitate the upgrade for all of the computers within the company. Two weekends over a span of 4 weeks will be needed to facilitate a migration of this size. Especially moving users that are not accustomed to the Windows 8 platform and drastic visual difference to Windows XP and Windows 7. A small number of users will be selected to participate in the initial migration. This pilot migration will allow for testing and evaluation of the new computers . The pilot migration will allow us to analyze the operation and allow for any necessary adjustments to the main migration. The pilot migration will take place on the first weekend. After a transition period of two weeks to ensure proper migration the main migration will take place on the last weekend. To facilitate a faster migration, system images will be used to deploy the upgrade from the previous operating systems. These images will contain all of the necessary files for a smooth installation. The User State Migration Tool (USMT) will be used to migrate select individuals accounts, saved files, Windows settings, and program data files and settings. USMT will allow these settings to be saved to a network share and later deployed to the specified user after the operating system upgrades. Many employees within MSP have inquired about the use of tablets within our corporate infrastructure. To maintain the security of Tablet use, Windows 8 RT Tablets will have to be used. Many vendors produce Tablets that use the Windows 8 RT operating system. Dell, Microsoft, Lenovo, Asus, Samsung and HP all make similar Tablets. Increased price usually means increased features. For employees that would need to use the Microsoft Suite, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 would meet the request for Tablets in the office. It runs Windows 8 Pro, available storage size between 64 and 512 GB, 4th generation i5 Intel processor, wireless n and Bluetooth connectivity. The SkyDrive mentioned above is also offered with 200 GB of free cloud storage. The current trend that continues to grow is BYOD (bring your own device). Many corporate employees are accessing information for work and home on the same device (Corporate Communications, 2013). To incorporate the use of Tablets within the workspace can be easily done. The question is whether or not we want the employees to use them as well as laptops at home. The migration to Windows 8 and the hardware upgrade for MSPs infrastructure from its current state will increase productivity, security, and administration and keep it on the cutting edge of technology. Windows 8 Enterprise drastically increases the security posture and productivity over Windows XP and Windows 7 through new features and increased administrative abilities. The benefits of this migration drastically outweigh the costs. Removing obsolete software such as Windows XP will help reduce the risk against cyber attacks that may damage and/or steal our proprietary information and data. The migration proposal above will reduce downtime for our employees and will help facilitate a smooth transition to Windows 8 through its two-phased approach. The possible incorporation of Tablets will also distance MSP from its competitors and will continue to showcase itself as a industry leading graphics company.

Last Minute Guide to Cramming for the ACT 10 Tips
Last Minute Guide to Cramming for the ACT 10 Tips SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips The ACT is upon us, and it seems fair to assume (since you're reading this article) that you're under-prepared. If you've got less than three weeks before the exam and haven't really studied yet, you're officially cramming for the ACT. Now, if you're willing and able to put in some 60 hours of preparation before the test, take a moment to read our cram plan for those very circumstances. If that doesn't sound realistic for your circumstances, though, read on to discover the most useful strategies you can employ to get up to speed on the test in a pinch. We'll cover tips specific to each part of the test, as well as some global advice on topics like guessing and keeping a level head on test day. General Guidance:Work Hard, Rest Well It's important to put serious, committed effort into cramming for the ACT.You should go all out on the test, and you need to practice what that's really like. Plus, with limited time, you need to work especially hard to make the most of your studying. However, it's important to take care of yourself, too.A day or two before the test, slow down the pace. Don't stop preparation altogether, but focus on recuperating from the past several days of pushing so hard. Focus on getting good sleep. It takes more than just one night to catch up on those z's, and fatigue is not your friend on test day. Pay attention to your mindset. As cheesy as this may sound, ask yourself whether you're looking at the test through the lens of a glass half-empty or a glass half-full. Remember, this is an opportunity to excel at the test. Pay attention to your stress level, too. Nerves are healthy- they can give us the adrenaline we need to complete Herculean tasks. Pure stress is less helpful- it freezes us up and tears us down. Finally, take a realistic view of the test. It's important; I'm definitely not denyingthat. However, it's not a matter of life and death- so don't treat it like one. Wear your reality goggles when you look at the test. Preparation Strategies Let's talk about some specific, actionable steps to take between now and the test. #1: Take a Practice Test This is a crucial step; taking a practice testwill help you get used to the format and directions of the test, not to mention practice the content. You don't want to spend a lot of time sorting through instructions on test day, so use the practice test to work out any kinks. Also, knowing what you're up against on the test will help ease the anxiety you're likely to feel. For every answer you get wrong, take the time to read the explanation ofwhy that answer is wrong. This is an important first step towards understanding the way the test-makers think. Use your performance on each section to determine which task (English, Math, Reading, Science, or Writing) is your weakest. Focus your energy there. #2: Practice, Practice, and Practice Some More Practice with sample problems, and drill the ones that are a challenge for you. That being said, don't burn yourself out; try to situate yourself in the sweet spotof studying, between about one andthreehours a day(on average). There's more information on what to practice and drill as we continue on below. Mostly, though, try to use as many official practice materials as you can. #3: English - Review the Basic Rules of English Review some basic grammar rules, including: Punctuation marks (and how they function) Basic sentence structures (and how they function) Parts of speech (and how they function) Now, it's all about how these concepts are put into practice. You won't be asked to parrot rules; you'll be asked to apply them to passages in context. As an experiment, take a text that you trust to be error-free, and work through part of it, identifying what's going on with the punctuation, structure, etc. That's "English" the language, not "English" the nationality. #4: Reading- Immerse Yourself in Literature Read (a lot). This doesn't have to mean holing up with a giant volume for hours on end- just keep reading on hand for spare moments throughout the day. Don't read just any old thing, though- Calvin and Hobbes is sadly not going to help. Read material that feels a little tough- newspapers, academic journals, challenging books, etc. Iknow you know how to read; that's not the issue. The question is your level of comfort with being immersed in a difficult text and your willingness to reach beyond your comfort zone. I've acted Shakespeare professionally, and it still takes me a little time to adjust to the language I'm hearing when I go see a Shakespearean play. That's because I'm not immersed in it every single day; it would be a different matter if I were. By loose analogy, getting regularly cozy with tricky writing leading up to the ACT will save you some discomfort on test day. Read critically and analytically, not passively. Engage with the text- ask questions, look for answers, and make observations. This is the quickest path to understanding a text on the level the ACT requires. The test is going to ask you questions that require more than a once-over, surface-level familiarity with the text, so, again, you'll be glad to be comfortable with the literary delving process on test day. #5: Math- Get to KnowYour Formulas The ACT, unlike the SAT, does not give you any kind of formula list- so get memorizing. The more complex geometric formulas will be given to you in the context of the question- but the bulk of it all you need to provide on your own. Memorize at least themost crucial formulas, and make sure you know how to apply them. #6: Science - Find Scientific Writing to Analyze Don't worry about cramming actual scientific facts and data- you should be more concerned with being able to interpret the facts and data being given to you. Read scientific publications with a decent reputation (like Popular Science), and spend extra time poring over all thecharts and graphs that you find. Beyond that, keep up the pace with drilling practice passages. #7: Writing - Debate, on Paper or in Person Outlining samples essays is, as one might suspect, golden. If, however, you just can't take any more silent, individual activity, try setting up a debate with fellow crammers- or even other friends or family members, if they're willing. It's a great way to get instant feedback on your ideas! The Writing test is all about argument, and learning how to articulate ideas clearly and effectively is of the utmost importance. Keep your debates civil, now. ACT Test-Taking Tips Cramming is a journey all its own, but don't forget that nothing's over until you turn in that test. Here are some ideas on how to get through test day. #8: Warm Up on the Morning Of Wake up early, giving yourself plenty of time to get ready and arrive at the test center. Take a moment to do a warm-up problem or two. Don't cram any more, but review a particularly nasty problem you've mastered or try a moderately difficult question that you haven't seen yet. This will warm your brain up a little- get the cobwebs out- without taxing it by tryingto cram more information in. #9: Mind Your Mindset Talk to yourself in a positive and supportive manner. Visualize what's going to happen over the course of themorning, and visualize yourself coming through with flying colors. #10: Guess When You Don't Know the Answer The ACT doesn't have a guessing penalty; a wrong answer won't gain you points, but it won't actually lose you any points, either. Do all the questions you're confident in. Next, make educated guesses where possible. Finally, put down answers for everything you're completely lost on. Take a moment now to read some additional guessing strategies prepared by our experts. Conclusion So there you have it: the techniques you need to cram your way to test day with the ACT. Lucy Maud Montgomery, Author of Anne of Green Gables
Lucy Maud Montgomery, Author of Anne of Green Gables Better known as L. M. Montgomery, Lucy Maud Montgomery (November 30, 1874ââ¬âApril 24, 1942) was a Canadian author. Her most famous work by far is the Anne of Green Gables series, set in a small town on Prince Edward Island in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Montgomeryââ¬â¢s work made her a Canadian pop culture icon, as well as a beloved author around the world. Fast Facts: Lucy Maud Montgomery Known For: Author of Anne of Green Gables seriesAlso Known As: L.M. MontgomeryBorn: November 30, 1874 in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, CanadaDied: April 24, 1942 in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaSelected Works: Anne of Green Gables series, Emily of New Moon trilogy Notable Quote: We miss so much out of life if we dont love. The more we love the richer life is- even if it is only some little furry or feathery pet. (Annes House of Dreams) Early Life Lucy was an only child, born in Clifton (now New London), Prince Edward Island in 1874. Her parents were Hugh John Montgomery and Clara Woolner Macneill Montgomery. Sadly, Lucys mother Clara died of tuberculosis before Lucy turned two years old. Lucys devastated father Hugh could not handle raising Lucy on his own, so he sent her to live in Cavendish with Claraââ¬â¢s parents, Alexander and Lucy Woolner Macneill. A few years later, Hugh moved halfway across the country to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where he eventually remarried and had a family. Although Lucy was surrounded by family who loved her, she didnââ¬â¢t always have children her own age to play with, so her imagination developed rapidly. At age six, she began her formal education at the local one-room schoolhouse. It was also around this time that she made her first forays into writing, with some poems and a journal she kept. Her first published poem, ââ¬Å"On Cape LeForce,â⬠was published in 1890 in The Daily Patriot, a newspaper in Charlottetown. That same year, Lucy had gone to visit her father and stepmother in Prince Albert after finishing her schooling. The news of her publication was a pick-me-up for Lucy, who was miserable after spending time with a stepmother she did not get along with. Teaching Career and Youthful Romance In 1893, Lucy attended Prince of Wales College to get her teaching license, finishing an intended two-year course in only one year. She began teaching immediately after, although she did take a one-year break, from 1895 to 1896, to study literature at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. From there, she returned to Prince Edward Island to resume her teaching career. Lucyââ¬â¢s life at this point was a balancing act between her teaching duties and finding time to write; she began publishing short stories in 1897 and published around 100 of them over the next decade. But from the time she was in college, she fielded romantic interest from an array of men, most of whom she found thoroughly unimpressive. One of her teachers, John Mustard, attempted to win her over, as did her friend Will Pritchard, but Lucy rejected both- Mustard for being terribly dull, and Pritchard because she only felt friendship for him (they did remain friends until his death). In 1897, Lucy, feeling that her marital prospects were dwindling, accepted the proposal of Edwin Simpson. However, she soon came to loathe Edwin, meanwhile falling madly in love with Herman Leard, who was a member of the family she boarded with when she was teaching in Lower Bedeque. Although she was strictly religious and refused premarital sex, Lucy and Leard had a brief, passionate affair that ended in 1898; he died the same year. Lucy also broke off her engagement with Simpson, declared herself to be finished with romantic love, and returned to Cavendish to help out her recently widowed grandmother. Green Gables and World War I Lucy was already a prolific writer, but it was in 1908 that she published the novel that would ensure her place in the literary pantheon: Anne of Green Gables, about the youthful adventures of a bright, curious young orphan and the charming (if occasionally gossipy) small town of Avonlea. The novel took off, gaining popularity even outside of Canada- although outside press often tried to depict Canada as a whole as a romantic, rustic country in the vein of Avonlea. Montgomery, too, was often idealized as the perfect female author: undesiring of attention and happiest in the domestic sphere, even though she herself admitted that she looked upon her writing as a true job. Lucy Maud Montgomery did, in fact, have a ââ¬Å"domestic sphere. Despite her earlier romantic disappointments, she married Ewan Macdonald, a Presbyterian minister, in 1911. The couple moved to Ontario for Macdonaldââ¬â¢s work. The couple were somewhat mismatched in personality, as Macdonald did not share Lucys passion for literature and history. However, Lucy believed it was her duty to make the marriage work, and the husband and wife settled into a friendship. The couple had two surviving sons, as well as one stillborn son. When World War I broke out, Lucy threw herself into the war effort wholeheartedly, believing it was a moral crusade and becoming nearly obsessed with news about the war. After the war ended, though, her troubles escalated: her husband suffered major depression, and Lucy herself was nearly killed by the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918. Lucy became disillusioned with the aftermath of the war and felt guilt over her own zealous support. The character of ââ¬Å"the Piper,â⬠a slightly sinister figure luring people, became a fixture in her later writings. During the same period, Lucy learned that her publisher, L.C. Page, had been cheating her out of her royalties for the first set of Green Gables books. After a lengthy and somewhat costly legal battle, Lucy won the case, and Pageââ¬â¢s vindictive, abusive behavior was revealed, resulting in him losing a great deal of business. Green Gables had lost its appeal for Lucy, and she turned to other books, such as the Emily of New Moon series. Later Life and Death By 1934, Macdonaldââ¬â¢s depression was so bad that he signed himself into a sanatorium. When he was released, however, a drug store accidentally mixed poison into his antidepressant pill; the accident nearly killed him, and he blamed Lucy, beginning a period of abuse. Macdonaldââ¬â¢s decline coincided with Lucyââ¬â¢s publication of Pat of Silver Bush, a more mature and darker novel. In 1936, she returned to the Green Gables universe, publishing two more books over the next few years that filled in the gaps in Anneââ¬â¢s story. In June 1935, she was named to the Order of the British Empire. Lucys depression did not cease, and she became addicted to the medicines that doctors prescribed to treat it. When World War II broke out and Canada joined the war, she was anguished that the world was again plunging into war and suffering. She planned to complete another Anne of Green Gables book, The Blythes Are Quoted, but it was not published until many years later in a revised version. On April 24, 1942, Lucy Maud Montgomery was found dead in her Toronto home. Her official cause of death was coronary thrombosis, although her granddaughter suggested, years later, that she may have intentionally overdosed. Legacy Lucy Maud Montgomerys legacy has been one of creating lovable, touching, and charming novels with unique characters that remain beloved around the world. In 1943, Canada named her a National Historic Person, and there are several national historic sites preserved that are connected to her. Over the course of her life, L.M. Montgomery published 20 novels, over 500 short stories, an autobiography, and some poetry; she also edited her journals for publication. To this day, Lucy Maud Montgomery remains one of the most beloved English-language authors: someone who brought joy to millions, even when joy escaped her personally. Sources ââ¬Å"About L. M.
