WestJet Airlines Case Analysis

Presentation WestJet Airlines is an aircraft organization in Canada that has gone past all chances and figured out how to be in charge of the accommodation business. The entirety of its originators have consistently accepted that the key behind the company’s achievement is their consistency in culture and administration creation. The root of this organization is 1994 when one business visionary, Clive Beddoe, thought it was modest to possess a personal jet to encourage his week after week business goes between the two urban communities of Vancouver and Calgary.Advertising We will compose a custom article test on WestJet Airlines Case Analysis explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More Amazingly, this didn't simply end at that. Clive and different accomplices figured it insightful to offer sanction transport to other likeminded representatives who made outings to and from the two urban communities simply like them. This in the long run turned into a business open do or for Clive and his team. They understood the potential in commercializing the contract transportation of the likeminded businessmen. After broad interview with different business people, Clive and his group banded together with Neeleman to think of a far reaching money related model and field-tested strategy. They at that point concocted modest, highlight point aircraft benefits that were proposed to work in the western district of Canada. This field-tested strategy appeared to be so reasonable and pulled in a lot of speculators who phenomenally raised the required capital worth a huge number of US dollars in under a month. The company’s first representatives moved to their absolute first workplaces in downtown Calgary (Ken, and Gerard, 52). It is critical to take note of that in November of that time of its origination, the organization figured out how to buy two Boeings 737-200 and purchased a third toward the beginning of January of 1996. During its first phases of activ ity, WestJet Airlines flew its planes to the urban communities of Kelowna, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton. It was not some time before the organization stretched out its wings to the urban areas of Ottawa, Moncton and Hamilton; where it really fabricated a universal air terminal as its eastern base. From that point forward, WestJet Airlines has enrolled huge development. Issues confronting WestJet Airlines The company’s culture could be a potential issue. WestJet Airlines’ originator, Beddoe, had once said in a meeting that the accomplishment of the organization lies totally on its way of life. The organization is celebrated for its way of life. Its chief for interchanges and advertising portrays the way of life as energetic, fun and loose (Ken, and Gerard, 53). This is especially obvious on the grounds that it includes getting things done in a standard manner and in a totally extraordinary way from other aircraft organizations. For example, the specialists at the call community where explorers cause their appointments to have the order to supersede charges. That in any case, the specialists have the ability to conclude whether to charge customers for dropping their flights or not. In certain events, these staff have the ability to conclude whether to charge unaccompanied minors or not.Advertising Looking for paper on business financial matters? It probably won't appear to be an issue or difficulty to the successful administration of the organization as of now. Be that as it may, this culture may present genuine difficulties sooner rather than later particularly because of the way that the organization is developing quickly. At this point, it is insightful to state that the senior administration despite everything trusts the company’s agen ts in having the company’s interests on the most fundamental level. This may not be the situation particularly when the organization grows and stretches out its branches to various urban communities. The purpose behind this is the trouble in observing the all-inclusive branches remotely. Aside from the trouble in observing organization branches remotely, other administrative escape clauses like abrogating of passages and strategies of cancelation of appointments needs unequivocal checking. This must be done exhaustively when the quantity of such irregularities is sensible. If the administration needs to screen such situations in a lot of branches, there will undoubtedly be untraceable errors. This ought to be a reason for caution on account of the high pace of development of the organization and particularly in light of the fact that the mistakes include cash. To start with, extra representative preparing is unavoidable when new examples rise in these patterns (Ken, and Gerar d, 53). The preparation clearly needs time and cash. Moreover, there are presumably no past occasions to put together the trainings with respect to subsequently everything becomes unadulterated mystery and fake. Another issue is the way that WestJet Airlines just flies one kind of airplane (Ken, and Gerard, 54). That in any case, the organization depends such a great amount on web tickets, gave constrained in-flight benefits and doesn't have flyer programs. This means the organization doesn't differentiate its administrations. This means pulling in just one sort of customer. Right now, this couldn't appear to be a potential test to development. The organization does well in its general profitability and maybe this is credited to the standard methodology that have been operational since the initiation of the organization. Later on, notwithstanding, this could be a genuine impediment to proceeded with development as it gives customers no broadened administrations. Note that opposition will take the necessary steps to charm customers. In this friendliness situation, articulate visitor fulfillment is the way to progress. For example, WestJet Airlines doesn't offer any suppers and offers just one class administrations (Ken, and Gerard, 54). This may be viewed as a shortcoming by competition.Advertising We will compose a custom exposition test on WestJet Airlines Case Analysis explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More Alternatives Provide dinners for explorers Offer various kinds of flights Offer various classes of administrations Provide measures for activity rather than worker own judgment In an accommodation industry like WestJet Airlines, intriguing the client is vital. Customers have a shortcoming of returning to just the spots where they were beforehand generally fulfilled and dazzled. In as much as the organization does well in its general execution without offering suppers to customers, it should consider improving by giving its customers motiva tion to grin. It is essential to take note of that if the organization doesn't dazzle its clients another organization will. Hence, the administration of WestJet Airlines ought not hold up until their clients are intrigued by different organizations before they do likewise. The way that WestJet Airlines offers just one kind of flights shows that it draws in just one sort of customers (Ken, and Gerard, 56). There are clients who might need to recruit planes to their goals. Be that as it may, they are driven away to different carriers by the way that WestJet Airlines just has Boeings. The exact opposite thing a business establishment ought to do is make showcase for its rivals. For this situation, a customer will more outlandish come back to WestJet Airlines regardless of whether the person in question needs normal vehicle administrations. WestJet Airlines doesn't give various classes of administrations (Ken, and Gerard, 54). In business, differential evaluating helps in boosting the benefits. There are clearly customers who are happy to pay more than others for going in a similar airplane and covering a similar separation basically due to somewhat more solace. The organization should exploit this and get more cash-flow. The motivation behind why WestJet Airlines can count its budgetary records considerably after its delegates at the call community settle on autonomous choices of whether to fine customers for late crossing out of appointments and whether to charge unaccompanied minors is a direct result of the reasonable number of customers. While thinking about the huge development of the organization, note that the number will be unmanageable soon. The organization should, along these lines, consider executing a standard strategy for dealing with such issues. Arrangement The best of the choices that WestJet Airlines ought to be sharp about is figuring standard strategies for dealing with specific issues instead of giving workers the freedom to settle on certai n autonomous choices. For example, the choice of whether to charge unaccompanied minors ought to be normalized. The administration ought to choose whether the minors ought to be charged for administrations or not. Whatever choice it makes should turn into an arrangement and a standard method for dealing with every single comparable case. This might be a piece of a long-lasting procedure to factor in the chance of enrolling an expanded number of customers in future.Advertising Searching for exposition on business financial aspects? It is here and there critical to have standard costs particularly in quickly developing associations like WestJet Airlines so as to ease reviewing. It is, thusly, basic that the organization considers having set up techniques anticipated to counter future oddities (Ken, and Gerard, 59). End WestJet Airlines has been, for quite a while, positioned among the couple of most lucrative carriers in North America (Ken, and Gerard, 52). It has defeated genuine difficulties including high fuel costs and the lessening economy. Regardless, the organization ought to pick differentiating its administrations in an offer to pull in an assortment of customers. The media cited President Bush saying, â€Å"You are eit her with us or against us† (Taylor 2002, 1). By offering such comments, the president intended to draw in whoever restricted his foreordained plans. Pundits, for example, Johns A. Accordingly, the victims’ reaction to the Hurricane Katrina was delayed because of their ineptitude to move out of the calamity stricken New Orleans state. The war on fear based oppression made more issues to the individu als of the United States. Aside from improving fear based oppressor assaults to the US residents, the war on psychological warfare made even the neighborhood officials to disregard their jobs to the residents. Since the president himself had ignored his job to the individuals, the neighborhood officials imitated him. Consequently, it was President Bush to fault for the disappointment of fast activity by the neighborhood specialists. As per Brown (2005), if the administration had apportioned enough assets on debacle readiness and the executives, the DHS would have immediately reacted to the Hurricane Katrina (58). 10 Evaluation Essay Topics on Affordable Care Act

10 Evaluation Essay Topics on Affordable Care Act Today we are going to assist you with bettering comprehend the Affordable Care Act so you can compose a decent paper dependent on it. Individuals for the most part know next to no about ACA, particularly those not guaranteed and that’s something we have to concentrate on. The law itself stays disliked yet a portion of its parts have created a great deal of press. This law makes it conceivable to achieve low rates, quality consideration, accessible protection plans and cost cutting estimates that will be forced on insurance agencies from both open and private divisions. In light of the inquiries raised about the viability of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the staff of Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) assessed that, on balance, the measure of individuals who are getting clinical consideration from their managers would diminish by 3 million constantly 2019, under the present enactment. As per CBO’s most recent projections, somewhere in the range of 2019 and 2022, up to 5 million individuals will prevent taking inclusion from their bosses in contrast with the past law. As indicated by the Affordable Care Act families that are making under 133 percent underneath destitution line, which lounges around $29,000 for a normal group of four, will be secured under the national social protection program known as Medicare. Families lie between 133 percent to 400 percent beneath the neediness line, which indicates around $88,000 for a solitary group of four, will get a calming charge credit on a sliding scale, so they are monetarily fit to pay for private protection. Premiums are topped for families that are right now gaining under 400 percent of the destitution line. This implies families procuring between 150 percent and 200 percent beneath the neediness line won't be committed to pay anything above 6.3 percent of their acquiring in premiums. So also if a family is procuring somewhere in the range of 300 and 400 percent of underneath the neediness line, they won’t need to pay more than 9.5 percent. The equation is accessible for everybody to utilize, in addition there is an online number cruncher built up by the Kaiser Family Foundation which makes it simpler for families with a wide range of gaining levels to compute their appropriations and tops. The individuals who can manage the cost of inclusion when the individual order kicks in and decide to disregard it, if their protection costing is under 8 percent of their whole yearly pay, must compensation a measure of $695 or 2.5 percent of their whole yearly pay. Whichever is more noteworthy will overshadow the other. Private companies having under 10 representatives, with normal wages beneath or up to $25,000 who give protection approaches to their laborers, are qualified for an assessment credit of up to 50 percent on their commitments. Expense credit additionally applies to independent companies having around 50 representatives where normal wages go up to $50,000. Notwithstanding, the expense acknowledge sum gets littler as the business grows and thrives. Insurance agencies are limited to assessing instances of people dependent on previous conditions. Elements that the insurance agencies can think about are age, premium rating region, use of tobacco and family sythesis. The law commits manager gave wellbeing intends to pay burdens up to 35 percent if a solitary employee’s inclusion surpasses $10,200 or if a solitary family’s inclusion surpasses $27,500. This arrangement is to ensure that businesses abstain from going for costly protection approaches; thusly the insurance agencies are compelled to minimize their expenses. Duty code findings of boss based medical coverage plans, which are at present boundless, is additionally topped. The ACA ensures around 1 trillion dollars are spent in the following ten years. The law guarantees there are spending cuts, the vast majority of which apply to medicare, and certain increments in charge also, as it will help to either set aside cash or raise a greater amount of it. This is one reason why the CBO has hypothesized that the shortfall itself will go down subsequently. Over the long haul, investment funds will be better coordinated with costs and even surpass costs The CBO anticipates that the ACA law should bring the deficiency somewhere near an amazing trillion dollars in the coming decade. As per overviews, medicinal services costs have alarmingly eased back down. Some accuse this insecure result for the downturn while others accept that it’s only by some coincidence. Specialists, notwithstanding, conclude this is because of the ACA experiencing fast changes in how the clinical consideration framework functions. ACA has constrained consideration suppliers to move their plans to quality based installments. Laptops!

Laptops! Ive had dial-up internet for as long as I can remember. One of the things I was looking forward to most about MIT was having a laptop and campus-wide WI-FI. I always had this sparkling image of me, sitting in Killian Court under the sun, blogging about MIT (with not a care in the world). The issue? I needed a laptop. Although there have been some blogs about what computers to bring to campus, and some articles around the internet, most of the links were broken and the info outdated. This is my attempt at helping you understand what laptops frequent campus and which you should consider buying if you come. So, without further delay, lets get started! There are two computer options for MIT: Desktops and laptops. Both have their merits, but in all honesty, most people here use laptops. If youre dead set on having a desktop and wouldnt work with anything less, then you wont be at a huge disadvantage with a desktop, but its definitely in the minority of computing choices. What youll notice about MIT is that there are laptops everywhere! Proof? I love having a laptop, it lets me do what Im doing now (type a blog entry in the floor lounge while watching the Great Mouse Detective and Chicken Run). What should you get though? So many options! Lets start with the formalities, what does MIT recommend? If you go to MITs page of Recommended Laptops you will see three varieties: 1) Mac 2) Dell 3) Lenovo IBM Thinkpad Perhaps as a consequence of this website, and also the fact that MIT gives students a discount on all three of these brands, these will be the laptops you see the most of on campus. Each has its benefits and each has its downsides. What are they? Mac Never have I met somebody who owns a Mac that didnt love it. A little less than half the computers I see on campus are Macs. Which Mac though? Macbook Macbooks are great for your typical, everyday student. If youre going to be doing basic typing, Mathematica, music playing, and general computing then the Macbook is great for you. Itll run all of your basic programs (including MatLab, provided for free by MIT) and networks just fine to MIT and its printers. Macbook Pro Macbook Pros are also quite popular here. Used mostly by people that plan on doing programming and more computationally demanding applications. The backlit keyboard is also a nice feature (but then again, Macs are pretty anyway, thats half the point). Macbook Air Im going to have to discourage purchasing a Macbook air at this point. Its VERY expensive and not that powerful. Its very pretty and shiny, but not practical for MIT. Everybody here I know that has one is a Mac fanboy and also uses another computer in addition to their Air. Wait for SSD prices to drop, then look at the Air. Issues with Macs If you are going to be a Mechanical Engineer you should avoid a Mac. Thats not to say you cant have one, but your life will be easier with a PC, the reason being the modeling software youll be using (SolidWorks) isnt compatible with Mac. It was designed specifically for Windows and will likely never be ported. That being said, you can buy a Macbook Pro, dual-boot it with Windows, and then install SolidWorks (again, MIT provides it for free). Youll need a Pro though, of the three types of Macs only it has the RAM and the graphics to comfortably run modeling software. The air and the Macbook will be really laggy. Dell A little less than the other half of laptops are Dells. Youll see some Inspirons around, but most are Latitudes (Dells business laptop). I use a Dell D820 and love it. I like the ability to customize exactly what goes into a Dell and Ive never had a problem with delivery or tech support. Theyre really solid machines. If you explore the Dell website youll see a bunch of different configurations (Hard drive size, RAM, graphics card, screen size, etc). While most of these features dont really matter, there are a few that Id like to suggest you focus on for certain situations. Windows Vista If you have Windows Vista (and you very likely will, it comes pre-installed on many new laptops, but a downgrade to XP is always an option) then youll want 2 gigs of RAM. You can run your computer on 1 gig but it wont be a pleasant experience. Idling, Windows Vista uses about 990 Mb of RAM, leaving you very little left running applications. You wont regret the extra RAM. SolidWorks If you are planning on using modeling programs like SolidWorks or playing graphic-intensive games (Portal/Crysis) then youll want a larger than average graphics card. I use a 512 Mb (which Dell may not offer anymore?) but a 256 is perfectly respectable and is a good choice. Other Stuff Hard drive size isnt crucial because external HDDs are relatively cheap (much cheaper than putting a large hard drive into a laptop.) When you check out prices youll notice that there is a huge price spike when you get above a certain hard drive size. Lenovo IBM Thinkpad While not nearly as prevalent as the Macbook or the Dell, the Thinkpad still has a respectable following at MIT. I dont know a lot about Lenovo, nor about Thinkpads, but people that have them swear by them (similar to how Mac users swear by their computers). I would suggest buying a Thinkpad based on a) Price b) If youve used one before and like them c) If you want a tablet with the MIT discount On a side note, the guy who wrote the algorithm and developed the red nubby mouse thing (I dont know what to call it!) on the Thinkpads works in the MIT Media Lab. Im sorry I dont know a lot about these things, but everybody I know who has one is very happy with it. Id try some of them out before buying one, just to make sure you like it, but consider it. Others Other laptops are present on campus that dont have the benefit of an MIT discount. These laptops are generally purchased because of past experiences with different brands and personal preferences. Some of the more common include: HP A good computer, more similar to Dell than to the other two (Macbook and Lenovo). Gateway Not as known for their laptops. If you love Gateway, go for it, but Id stick with some more main-stream comptuers. Acer I would urge you to stay as far away from Acer as possible. Acer has a pretty terrible reputation for reliability and quality. Theyre cheap, sure, but the parts and components are picked from all sorts of third-party sources and oftentimes arent compatible/well designed. Many dont latch closed, have glitchy keyboards, and perform poorly. If youre aiming for cheap, go for the Macbook. Eeepc/XO As exciting as these two new tiny laptops are, I would stray from them as a primary computer. Especially the XO, its unlikely to be compatible with any of the printer networks and will require a pretty decent background in Linux, programming and . . .you know what, just dont buy it. The Eeepc is kinda cute and would be good to just throw in your pocket, but primary computer? Prolly not. Tablets The last type of computer option is the tablet. Tablets are amazing. I love them. How cool would it be to be able to take notes during class on a tablet? Be able to use Photoshop with a pen? I would TOTALLY have a tablet if not for one thing: Graphics. As I said earlier, I want to be able to run SolidWorks on my laptop, which is almost impossible with a tablet. They simply dont make a tablet with a graphics card strong enough to run Solidworks. Every tablet out there has an integrated graphics card that just cant handle it. I e-mailed all the top tablet manufacturers and the general consensus is that tablets just arent popular enough or mainstream enough to warrant an external graphics card. Maybe in several years theyll be awesome, but for now they just dont match what I need. If you are anything but a Mechanical Engineer then definitely look into tablets, theyre so cool! The Lenovo IBM picture up there is of a tablet, one of the more popular brands of tablets on campus. Lenovo is a very trustworthy tablet brand. When exploring for a computer there are some numbers you want to consider. Look up what they mean on Wikipedia or e-mail me if you have any questions about what each is. Look for: RAM Hard Drive Size/Speed (5400 RPM/7200 RPM) Graphics Card Clock Speed (Measured in GHz) Thats all Ive got for you. Good luck, and enjoy the purchase of your new computer! *Disclaimer: Im not a computer expert. My goal in this entry is to help you understand how computers integrate with MIT. I have simplified certain aspects of computer shopping for ease of readability (nobody wants to read a huge entry of tech specs) but you should be able to rely on this entry for basic choice making. Again, good luck!

Teenage Brain Development: What Are The Causes Of Childhood Obesity? (Coursework Sample) Content: Teenage Brain Development Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Assignment Question 1. What Are The Causes Of Childhood Obesity? Genes: More than 200 genes affect weight by influencing activity levels, food preference, body type and metabolism. Most Europian-Americans are in a high chance of having obesity and even diabetes since 16% of them inherit two copies of an alleke called FTO which are known to increase the likelihood of both obesity and diabetes. Parents: In the past few generations, parent practices have changed enhancing factors that contribute to obesity. Studies have shown that obesity is more common in infants who are not breast-fed as well as preschoolers who spend most of their time watching TV and drinking carbonated drinks. Also school-age children who are driven to school every day and those who don’t actively play outside. Policies: The other factor is embedded in social policies in that most communities and states determine what their children eat at school. Most schools have snack vending machines which create the desire and addiction of snacks for school children. Distinction Between Aptitude Tests And Achievement Tests Aptitude tests measure the ability of a child to master a particular skill. The Aptitude tests compares mental age of a particular child with his/her chronological age. Achievement tests are to test accomplishments made at a particular stage. Achievement tests compare scores to norms already established for each level. Achievement tests do not reflect age. Define Learning Disabilities These are some conditions in people that leads to difficulty in mastering a particular skill that most other people acquire easily. What Do The Terms Mainstreaming And Resource Room Mean? Mainstreaming involves placing children who have disabilities/special needs in a classroom with peers who have no disabilities. Resource room on the other hand is resource room is a remedial classroom where children with disabilities can gain help in a small group or even individually. It is basically a room designed to assist students who have specific learning problems. Discuss Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) ADHD is a disorder in which a child has an uncountable urge to be active. A child with ADHD is impulsive, inattentive, and overactive and whenever the child is required to be attentive and still, they are disruptive. Boys are more affected than girls where more boys are known to have ADHD. Estimates in the United States indicate that the rates for ADHD in girls is 6% while approximately 12% of boys have the disorder. Children with ADHD present with varied symptoms, where a child might sit down to do homework and then get disrupted; the child may start asking questions unrelated to homework. The child also starts thinking about different activities such as playing, getting a drink, tapping the table, jiggling legs and going to the bathroom. In severe cases, the sequence is repeated and the child may end up not doing the homework. Therefore, in most cases, children with ADHD have academic difficulties, and they are less likely to graduate from high school and college. Over the last four decades, rates of ADHD have been increasing and in the United States the rate has increased by approximately 5%. Studies show that rates are affected by ethnicity and it is estimated that more European American children have ADHD, Question 2 Description Of Information Processing Theory This is a theory that offers an approach to how information is received, processed, stored and retrieved in the brain. It describes the sequence of events in an individual’s mind when receiving new information. Once new information enters the brain, it is analyzed and then stored, a process that is very fast and hence unnoticeable. Once the information has been received, it is broken down and stored either in the sensory register, in the working memory or in the long-term memory. Definitions sensory memory is the first component of human information processing system. After stimuli has been received, sensory memory stores it for a split of a second. Working memory is the memory in which current conscious mental activities occur. Long term memory stores information from the working memory. I9nformation can be stored for minutes, hours, days, months or years. Metacognition Change Metacognition improves with age and experience. In preschool metacognition is present but to a small extent. However, between the age of three to four years, metacognition rapidly develops and the theory of mind is formed and the child is able to relate behavior of others and forge human relations. Language Development Phonics approach to language development establish the importance of reading letters and sounds. According to phonics proponents, decoding letters and sounds is critical to reading without which a child will flounder and get frustrated and thereby fail. Therefore teaching a child to read without the basic foundation and standards of phonics renders a child helpless. Whole language approach is child-centered, and drilling a child with phonic does not help the child but rather leads to lack of motivation and reduced comprehension. This consequently leads to â€Å"fourth grade slump† (a phenomenon when 10 years old children no longer want to learn). Its therefore more beneficial to offer ac child with a choice of books and topics and encourage them to read. Question 3 Culture Of Children And Social Cognition culture of children are the things associated with children, i.e. children literature, media and artifacts. Social cognition is focused on how people perceive other, i.e how they process, store and apply information regarding others. Erickson’s Psychosocial Fourth Stage It is known as the industry verses inferiority stage. It is stage where there is tension between human productivity and incompetence. At this stage, the child becomes ready to apply himself to given skills and tasks. During this stage, a child starts to judge himself as to whether he is productive or useless. Being productive brings an intrinsic joy within the child, and thereby fosters self-control. An Example Of A Child’s Behavior During Erickson’s Fourth Stage A child at this stage is usually busy performing tasks such as collection of items like stones and seashells, categorizing them and counting them. This is the industry part of the stage and the child may feel either industrious or inferior. Kohlberg’s Stages Of Moral Development Kohlberg described three levels of moral reasoning and two stages at each level; Preconvention moral reasoning: it is a self-centered level that focuses on getting rewards and avoiding punishment. 1 Stage one of this level is oriented towards obedience and punishment. It is important to maintain n appearance of obedience while avoiding punishment. This basically means, â€Å"don’t get caught.† 2 Stage two looks out for stage one and is oriented towards instrumentalism and relativism. Everyone focuses on their own needs and the only reason as to why one should be nice o another person is for them to be nice to you too. Conventional moral reasoning is the third kevel and stages include stage three and four. It is a community centered level and social rues are applied. 3 Stage three focuses on proper behavior that pleases other people. Social approval is more important than any reward. 4 Stage four revolves around law and order. Obeying the law and being a dutiful citizen is more important than anything else. Post conventional moral reasoning is the third level and it is centered around moral principles and ideas. Includes stages five and six. 5 Stage five is about social contact, and social rules should be obeyed because they benefit everyone and everyone is in agreement to the rules. Rules are binding an if anyone does not live up to them, then the contract is no longer binding. 6 Stage six is about universal ethical principles. General universally valid principles determine right and wrong. In this stage, ethical values may contradict egocentric and social or community values. Question 4 The article â€Å"how video games can change your brain† describes the effects that video game has on the brain. Video games have been associated with increased violence, addiction an aggression. However, such characteristics can also be due to family background, gender oriented and mental problems, and doesn’t necessarily have to be caused by video games. It is clear that scientists have not been able to provide a link between video games and violence, and more studies are now focused on the benefits of playing video games. On one hand there are psychologists who believe that video games cause violence, and on the other hand there are psychologists who believe that video games are actually beneficial to human brain. According to the article, several studies have been conducted, which have provided empirical evidence that can be used to view video games in another perspective. The article also...

Doctor Faustus A Tragic Tale Of A Man - 871 Words

Christopher Marlowe’s, Doctor Faustus is a tragic tale of a man who decides to seek pleasure to the point that traps him in the end. Throughout the whole play, Faustus, battles with his inner good and evil. People can relate to this, because it is an ongoing fight that each individual struggles with. This play shows the different routes that each person can partake in in life. Although Faustus seems to have been relishing his choices outwardly, there are reasons why man should not live godlessly, seek infinite knowledge and pursue vain pleasures. The author shows the theme that man should not pursue power aggressively, because in the end Faustus is dragged to hell. In the play, Doctor Faustus starts off by seeking to learn magic and infinite knowledge. In Scene 1. 40-50., Faustus begins questioning the Bible s view about sin leading to death and instead begins to praise magic and divinity saying and necromantic books are heavenly! Though Faustus conscious, being the good angel, tells him to throw the magic book aside he ignores the heavenly voice and begins to partake in practicing magic (1. 70). As his curiosity leads him to profess his soul to the devil to gain anything he so desires, he begins finding out some painful truths about the heavens existence through Mephastophilis. With this new terrifying knowledge, Faustus again declares that he wants to repent, but because he is so deep into seeking pleasure and only agrees with his evil conscious voice, he reaffirmsShow MoreRelatedComparison Between Christopher Marlowes Doc tor Faustus and William Shakespeares Twelfth Night872 Words   |  4 Pagesï » ¿Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustus versus William Shakespeares Twelfth Night Both Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustus and William Shakespeares Twelfth Night deploy many of the same characteristic rhetorical features of 16th century verse dramas. How Does Likes Plays An Important Role - 974 Words

Today’s generation thrives on social media platforms. We use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram everyday as a technology to promote ourselves through images, status updates and likes in order to be viewed by the public’s eye as likable. The sociological construct that I’ll be examining will be gender and how likes plays an important role in society of how we are perceived to be. Additionally, I’ll expand on how we use these technologies as a tool, that can bolster our image through likes and content that determines our reality. When your surfacing through Instagram (the explore page) you normally come across images or videos that interest you. The first thing you do is look at the content and think about how it relates to you. It can relate to you by several factors. You could have an idea shared through it, a moment or let’s just say it reminds you of a sociological construct that society places every day. Unfortunately, we see half naked women posing in an exotic outfit, with a filter on level ten, that is seen posing sexually in her best angle. This picture can at least gain one thousand likes depending on a person’s image or the amount of followers. To expand, if a regular video vixen girl takes this photo she ll get attention from her peers of how degrading she looks and how she doesn’t have respect for herself and all other parts of that nature. If Kim Kardashian did it, she’ll still get degraded, however she’ll have a million hits, which will result into saying the newlyShow MoreRelatedA Little Bit More Is Done By William Shakespeare1663 Words   |  7 Pagesreading a play you expect characters that play a part and tell a story that the readers can ultimately learn from, but in a piece of work done by Shakespeare a little bit more is done. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia - 980 Words

Schizophrenia is a severe brain disorder that disrupts the normal balance of thinking and emotions; thus, sufferers decode reality abnormally. Schizophrenia can result in an amalgamation of delusions, hallucinations (visual or auditory), disordered thinking, chaotic speech, and behavior (Mayo Clinic, 2014). Schizophrenia â€Å"has the highest disability rating (0.53) of all mental illnesses among adults† (Eaton, 2012, p. 19), and as a chronic disorder requires lifetime treatment. The latter serves as the most compelling evidence that helps to explain the current happenings in Ms. Jones case. Navigation of life is not void of challenges; however, in the presence of a mental disorder, these normal life challenges are exacerbated. Because of this continued mental health services are of fundamental importance for the suffer given they can ease the burden of the disorder. Unfortunately, numerous barriers interrupt the path to care and treatment, which many suffers cannot navigate, thereby severing their link to these vital services. Barriers are either attitudinal (stigma and adverse perception about mental health efficiency) or structural (e.g. location, distance, accessibility, inadequate health coverage) both of which appear to have an impact in this particular case (Eaton, 2012). Ms. Jones unwillingness to accept her diagnosis with paranoid schizophrenia is indicative of the power of stigmas, as well as their ability to obstruct treatment. Matthew Mcfadden As he shouted across the soft spoken restaurant everyone stared at him, he then started doing a ridiculous dance and caught my undivided attention as my odd co worker. My fellow co-workers have told me so much about this man being lazy and annoying, so I pretended I had no interest. However, he caught my attention as to why he was the way he was. Without even knowing he taught me through his actions never to judge a book by its cover. He ended up being one of the easiest people to get along with from the company. Everyone who loves him or hate him cannot help but to laugh or smile when he speaks to them. This new friendship between him and I impacted the way I judge people. Matt was born November 1st 1989 in the lovely city of North Royalton. He has one older sister exceptionally loving parents. As a young child, his idol was Jim Carrey. For those who do not know Jim Carrey, he is one of the funniest actors who started his career as a comedian. Matt, at age three, would watch his movies and reenact his funniest moments. He would entertain his family and their friends every Friday night acting just like Jim Carrey. He has the natural ability to make anyone laugh at anytime. Twenty years later Jim Carrey still has an impact on him and taught him that life doesn’t always have to be serious; now making people smile is what Matt loves doing. Whenever situations get tough, he is always the one to step in and brighten up the moment. Not many people can do that, but Matt has that truly unique gift. When he was younger and got into trouble with his parents his goofy ways always seemed to save him. When he is in trouble at work, he continues to get away with it because of his silly personality. I cannot understand how he does it. It is his natural gift to laugh his way out of situations. While Matt is always making people laugh there is one thing that makes him happy. It is something I would never have imagined. About four years ago he was visiting his sister in Las Vegas, and the day they were leaving the Bellagio hotel was hosting a show with the water fountain. The song playing was called â€Å"Time to Say Goodbye† sung by opera singer Andre Bacilli. It was the most beautiful sight he has seen in his whole life. The water would dance with the song beat by beat; every beat had a pulse of water with beautiful lights shooting into the sunset skies. It brought tears to a 19 year old man’s eyes. Till this day that song brings him the most visual memory that makes him smile uncontrollably. The song not only makes him happy, it gives him a soft side that no one would ever believe he has. He is one of the most caring men I have come across in my life. However, when anyone first meets him no one would ever think this about him. He comes off extremely strong, loud, and to strangers, annoying. In order to know the real Matt McFadden, time must be well spent with him. Golf is another way to make this young man happy and relaxed. He loves this sport as if it were his own life. He plays every week at least one day, sometimes more. It calms him down and challenges him all at the same time. Golf is a sport of relaxation and silence. Even as a golfer he makes people laugh as they get frustrated with this sport. He is the happiest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He impacts people into creating contagious smiles wherever he goes. He can turn the angriest man happy by cracking one of his corny jokes. The golfers enjoy his company at the course, and will always welcome him with open arms due to the joy he brings. Matt will be pursuing a career choice that is going to fit his personality exceptionally well. He wants to be a paramedic, and I believe it is a fantastic choice because he can make the sick people laugh and get the pain off their minds. This past week I had Matt over for some research. My father is terribly sick and just out of surgery. Five minutes spent with Matt, and he was rolling on the floor laughing. I had never seen my father so happy before. As of today my father continues to talk about how much he wants Matt to come over and hang out with him. My father is not a people person so that caught me off guard, and just proves how right I am about Matt. He will always be a friend forever because he never has reasons to fight nor have problems. To Matt, his mission as a man is to make the people around him happy. How to cite Profile Essay on a Friend Named Matt, Essay examples

Business Research Method Complexity and Approximation

Question: Discuss about the Business Research Method for Complexity and Approximation. Answer: Introduction The development of the world with respect to the changing time has led to the introduction of complex techniques in the industry thereby producing extensive goods and services. However, with the improvement in the service and products, there has been the development of various business problems. These problems often lead to the reduction in the production function thereby, decreasing the efficiency of the firm. There needs to be provisions within an organization to rectify the business problems from time to time so that they can be improved swiftly. The identification of these problems requires extensive analysis of the manufacturing and business process. The problems are identified using the hypothesis and then various research methods are taken into consideration to find out the best method, which can be implemented so as to eliminate the problem (Feldmann 2015). The career action plan to design the business function is important so that no future problems arises. The concerned study finds out the various problems connected with the organization Lawton, Langridge, Lypton and Lawless Solicitors, a law and audit firm. The study helps to find out the business problems pertaining to the firm and methods to rectify the problem. Business Problem The most crucial problem the law firm faces is the lack of motivation among the data clerks. It is due to the fact that their office is on the 35th floor, which is separated from the other departments and has a monotonous work. The lack of responsibility towards these employees reduces their initiatives to work harder (Hardoy 2013). The other problem the firm is facing is the lack of goal among the employees. This is mainly due to the supervisor of the Word Processing Center Mrs. Blakely, as she does not possess any leadership qualities. She is ignorant and does not inspire or motivate her employees and delegates work or trains them. She does not want to solve any problems pertaining to the errors with respect to the data. There also exist the problem of communication and therefore, an ineffective communication persists in all the departments of the firm. Thus, it is important for the firm to rectify all the problems existing in the Word Processing Center of the firm. Lack of Motivation among the WPC employees The employees of this division do not possess any motivation. Motivation is an important aspect as it generates the willingness to put extra effort to reach the organizational goals. The clerks therefore, feel that they are separated from the other divisions in the 35th floor and only have contact with the supervisor. The turnover rate in the organization is high because only a few employees have been working in the firm for over a year. It is also a factor for the decrease in the potential growth and obstruction to reach their goal (Brinkmann 2014). The esteem needs according to the Maslows Hierarchy of Needs of the employees is also reduced as function a monotonous type of work. Leadership Quality of Mrs. Blakely The leadership style of Mrs. Blakely is autocratic in nature as she tries to centralize the authority to herself. She is the one who commands the work, makes unilateral decisions, and restricts the participation of her subordinates. She allocates the work to the employees everyday rather than giving them the power to decide. The interactions with the employees from other divisions are also restricted and thus, clarification about any problems cannot be discussed with the solicitors. It is said that a proper leadership style will create a structure that will be helpful for attaining the organizational goal and encourage the employees to work harder. The supervisor has knowledge about the fact that her employees feel their job is boring but still has not created any goal. She does not possess any interpersonal skills and is reluctant to spend time with the employees in the WPC unit. There are plenty of errors in the unit as there is no training in this section about how the work is to be done (Myers 2013). The process of feedback is also unavailable, as she does not have time to check their work. Ineffective Communication at the Law firm There exists a poor line of communication system among the various departments of the law firm. It is known that the employees of the WPC unit do not have any direct contact with the other employees and moreover, the solicitor Mr. Lawton was inefficient to listen to th4e complaints of his employees. The report from the management level about the deteriorating skills of the employees and negligence towards training has alerted the owners (Eriksson 2015). The owners do not have knowledge about their employees and have a direct contact only with Mrs. Blakely and therefore, do not understand their problems. Lack of teamwork in the WPC unit There are plenty of characteristics which reveal the effectiveness of a team. However, with respect to the WPC unit, there exist no team work among the employees and the supervisor. The employees do not possess a specific goal resulting in long breaks in work and late comings by the employees shows their lack of commitment towards their work. The employees are not even worthy of being data clerks as they are prone to plenty of mistakes. The existence of a weak culture within the organization hinders the development of mutual trust (Wilson 2014). The lack of good communication system affects the work of the WPC unit. It is also seen that the clerks do not have any negotiating skills because the present of this skill would have eliminated the problems pertaining in the WPC unit. An effective team environment is also missing as the supervisor is least bothered to create one as she is not present most of the time and does not encourage any group activities. The isolating factor of this u nit actually affects the team spirit. Hypothesis It is for sure that the firm, Lawton, Langridge, Lypton and Lawless Solicitors face various dilemmas with respect to the firm and the vital problems comprise of communication, motivation among the employees of WPC and the inefficient leadership style of Mrs. Blakely. The elimination of these problems will lead to the eradication of the minor ones (Ball 2012). According to Null Hypothesis, the leadership style will not get affected with the lack of communication and motivation among the employees. The Alternative Hypothesis on the other hand states that with the lack of motivation and communication among the employees, the leadership style and quality will get affected. Therefore, it is through the research method that the following issue can be resolved. Research Method There are various research methods, which can be used to evaluate the problems pertaining to a business. In this study, qualitative method is used to find out the problems which are affecting the WPC unit of the firm. The qualitative method involves the preparation of questionnaires to survey the employees working in the WPC unit. The research method also undertakes interviews of certain employees to underline the basic problems, which are affecting the business (Deutsch 2013). The method also uses the method of taking a few employees as participants and interviewing them with relevant questions to find out the problems, which are decreasing their efficiency of work. Solutions for WPC Employee motivation The solution involves the appointment of two solicitors along with an individual data clerk. This process will thereby increase the contact level with the other divisions of the firm. The work space for the WPC unit can be placed near the office of the solicitor designated. The data clerks working on the same thing can be placed together in the same floor therefore, enabling them to operate a various number of activities rather than performing the same work. These initiatives can improve the work skills of the employees and increase their initiative to achieve the organizational goals. The data clerks can even meet as a group every week to discuss and mitigate their problems. However, such initiatives may not increase productivity as the employees may feel intimidated by the solicitors. The problem of coming late and slacking off may still sustain (Zikmund 2013). The employees may not maintain the extra workload gained from these changes and their skills may not improve. The provision of having different levels of data clerk may help resolve the solution. Such an initiative for a better working environment encourages the employees to work harder to receive more challenging tasks. The undisciplined work behavior may also get restricted. The error level will also reduce and a better efficiency level may be achieved. In order to get promoted, the employees will try to perform their tasks properly thereby helping them to identify the origin of the problems. However, the problem that may still exist is the fact that the employees are still doing the same work every day (Demyanov 2013). The problem of animosities still exists between the employees. The creation of an absolute goal for the employees will inspire them to work harder as they will now have a definite goal in front of them thereby creating a competition among the employees to work harder and reach the objectives. The achievement of the goals will lead to promotion and acknowledgement from the firm. Effective Communication System The remedy of having a proper and efficient communicating system will be through regular meetings and discussions in every department and also among the various divisions so that all the discrepancies and the problems pertaining to the business can be addressed and thereby solving the problems and creating the best working culture and environment. The initiation of having informal get together and events among all the existing employees of the firm will help to resolve the problems and will create bondage with the firm as the employees will feel that the firm thinks about their welfare. The creation of such a thought will motivate them to work harder and achieve the organizational goals of the firm. The initiation for the development of surveys and questionnaires to get the employee feedback will be essential to find out their problems and a proper discuss on these findings will improve the work ethics and culture in the firm (Collis 2013). Solutions for Effective Leadership in WPC The first solution available is firing the supervisor Mrs. Blakely due to her incompetence, which also increases the initiative of the employees, as they earlier did not receive much responsibility. The supervisor does care for them but does not delegate any responsibility. She even has not tried to inspire them, knowing the fact that their job is boring (Blumberg 2014). However, firing Mrs. Blakely might affect the firm as she holds a lot of experience and finding an alternative with the same amount of knowledge may be difficult. It is known that the supervisor has become complacent about her work. The initiation of a work appraisal will redefine her role in the firm. She can review her work and transform all the inefficient skills. The review however may not be useful as the firm thinks highly about her. The supervisor thinks highly about herself and such an appraisal may not be fruitful. Career Action Plan This plan includes the combination of designating the employees to the solicitors and creating individual goals. The setting of goal is crucial, as it will inspire the employees to evaluate their role in the firm. The appointment of each WPC employee to a solicitor, the employee can identify their needs and motivators like the recognition, responsibility etc can be achieved (Feldmann 2015). The combination of all the factors relating to the effective communication system can be used. The surveys and the questionnaires can be used during the meetings to solve the problems pertaining to the business. The meetings will create active listening and will generate a process for feedback. The mixture of work appraisal for Mrs. Blakely undergoing a work appraisal and the appointment of a manager in the WPC unit among the employees will eradicate combat of the leadership skills. Mrs. Blakely would still hold her post but the presence of a manager in the unit will create discipline and inspire them to work harder (Vogel 2014). The presence of a manager will create a possibility of a democratic style of leadership. During the time of any problem, the manager can take the assistance of the supervisor to gain her advice. A personal evaluation taken by Mrs. Blakely will identify her infectiveness to lead to the WPC unit.
